Before surgery walked bent over. I am walking straight up now, can walk 1/2-mile without aid (cane). Before about 200 feet. Before I could get a good night's sleep with Tramadol and Gabapentin. Now can only get 4 to 6 hours with Percocet pain pill. Used to have severe lower back pain at times. Now I get moderate to bad pain in buttocks mostly while trying to sleep at night. I have to be very careful of my sleeping position.

In the months leading up to surgery things slowly kept getting worse until about three months before when it got worse by the week, and then about 2 weeks before surgery it got worse by the day, then last couple of days I could only take 2 or 3 steps without grabbing a hold of something for support to keep from falling. I walked hunched over for better than a year before surgery. Now walk erect. Until about 3 months before surgery I could lift and carry 100 pounds a few steps, still not able to do that, but I expect to get there. Had a little limp in left leg and still do. I am still a little unsteady when walking but don't feel I need a cane.
